Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.
When life tosses you a curveball, you can either duck, or swing for the fences. I chose to swing—albeit at a slightly unconventional pitch. Picture this: a room full of eager trainee life coaches, notebooks at the ready, and me? I’m the volunteer “guinea pig” in the spotlight. That’s right, folks—I signed up to be the live case study for a flock of fledgling life transformers.
Diving Into the Deep End
There I was, agreeing to share my innermost gears and fears, not with one coach, but a whole room of them, each more keen than the last to put their newly acquired coaching wizardry to the test. Think of it as speed dating, but instead of sipping coffee and swapping hobbies, it’s deep dives into soul-searching and habit-dissecting.
From Guinea Pig to Groupie
What unfolded was nothing short of a sitcom pilot episode. With every probing question and insightful observation, not only was I helping mold the next generation of life coaches, but I was also unraveling bits of my own psyche I’d expertly dodged for years. Who knew that being the center of a coaching hurricane could be so enlightening?
As the session rolled on, I found myself amidst a sea of “Aha!” moments, shared not just by me but by my intrepid trainers as well. And just like that, I transitioned from a mere practice subject to an unofficial mascot of this motley crew of coaching talents.
Unexpected Takeaways
But the real plot twist? The bonds formed over shared vulnerabilities and triumphs. By the end of the training, not only had I gained a bunch of insights into my own life’s workings, but I also walked away with a new circle of friends. Talk about a bonus!
These budding coaches had inadvertently coached the heck out of their guinea pig, turning me into a full-blown life coaching convert and an accidental advocate for their trade.
Life’s Funny That Way
Looking back, volunteering as a guinea pig in a life coaching session was like buying a lottery ticket—I had no idea if my investment would pay off, but oh boy, did it ever. I leaped into a pool of unknowns, surfaced with new friends, and even snagged an invite from an African bishop to spread the coaching gospel overseas (which, by the way, I politely declined—every hero knows their limits!).
So, to anyone considering a similar leap into the unknown—whether it’s as a volunteer, a career change, or even moving to a new city—I say, go for it. You might just find what you didn’t even know you were looking for. And who knows? You might end up with a blog-worthy tale, just like me.
Every once in a while, it pays to be a guinea pig.
